On second thought, I'm not entirely sure whether or not some of my nominations are permitted. Tauriel skirts just below the 5% rule, so I did nominate her, but there are a lot of (mostly female) characters in Tolkien's world who must have existed because they had children (Glóin's wife and Gimli's mother, Thranduil's wife and Legolas' mother, and Bard's wife in the Hobbit movies who is implied to be dead in a half-sentence) but are never named or described. I didn't see a rule against quasi-OCs like that, but probably should have asked beforehand. Sorry if I'm being a nuisance.
